New Jersey is a northeastern U.S. state with some 130 miles of the Atlantic coast. Jersey City, across the Hudson River from Lower Manhattan, is the site of Liberty State Park, where ferries embark for nearby Ellis Island, with its historic Immigration Museum.

Thomas Edison National Historical Park preserves Thomas Edison’s laboratory and residence, Glenmont, in West Orange, New Jersey, United States. These were designed, in 1887, by architect “Henry Hudson Holly”. On 6 December 1955, Edison’s home was designated as the Edison Home National Historic Site. The house retains its original furnishings in an Eastlake-style interior.

The Great Falls of the Passaic River is a prominent waterfall, 77 feet (23 m) high, on the Passaic River in the city of Paterson in Passaic County, New Jersey. The Falls are viewable from Haines Overlook Park on the south and Mary Ellen Kramer Park on the north. It has also been designated as a National Historic Landmark District. Interesting information regarding the history of the area can be obtained from the nearby Paterson Museum.

 

3. Lucy the Elephant

Lucy the Elephant is a six-story elephant-shaped example of novelty architecture, constructed of wood and tin sheeting in 1881 by “James V. Lafferty”. It was built to promote real estate sales and attract tourists. Lucy is the oldest surviving roadside tourist attraction in America. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976. It is listed as the 12th tallest statue in the United States.
